An estimated 6,500 people filled Aurora’s Town Park on Sunday evening for the annual Dance in the Park.
Hosted this year, as it is every year, by the Rotary Club of Aurora, the local service club joined forces with the Aurora 150 Committee, to do something extra-special this year – inviting iconic Canadian rockers Lighthouse as the grand finale for a day of music.
Their efforts did the trick as record numbers began filing in just before 2 p.m. for a full day of musical entertainment, beginning with “150 Guitars for 150 Years”, bringing together musicians from Aurora, York Region, and further afield – including Patti McLaughlin and Mayor Geoffrey Dawe.
The party continued throughout the day with artists, including Glenn Marais, and culminating with Lighthouse for a set which kept the crowd of all ages up on their feet and entertained for nearly an hour and a half.
