Hallowe’en is just starting to fade into memory for another year, but if you’re ready to get started on your Christmas shopping, consider heading up to Newmarket this Saturday.
Aurora resident Judy Brunton is once again hosting a “One Stop Shopping” event supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association in York and South Simcoe.
Featuring over 40 vendors, a silent auction, and much more, all proceeds from the $2 entrance fee will support the Association.
“I have been fundraising for the Canadian Mental Health Association – York & South Simcoe for four years now and I organize a number of third party fundraisers in order to raise as much awareness and funds [as I can] for youth mental health,” says Ms. Brunton. “The money I raise goes towards my goal for the Ride Don’t Hide that my son and I participate in every June. So far, I’ve raised over $40,000 over the past three years.
“I fundraise in honour of my sister who suffers daily with a number of mental health illnesses, and in memory of my cousin who we lost four years ago. My largest fundraiser is held the first Saturday of every November – the One Stop Shopping event.”
One Stop Shopping will take place Saturday at the Newmarket Community Centre at 200 Doug Duncan Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This event boasts the ability to shop from over 40 vendors, bid on over 50 items in the silent auction and get pampered in the special women’s area,” says Ms. Brunton. “There is an extra fee for the women’s area, but it is so worth it; there are manicures, makeup sessions, hair cutting/styling, massages, photo sessions and psychic readings.”
Spoiler Alert: the psychic readings are already fully booked. But, if you are a psychic looking to take part, you already knew that.
