Man stabbed in the abdomen during Aurora fight: Police

A man is undergoing surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital after being stabbed in Aurora on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene of a fight between two men at an apartment building on Wellington Street East at Wells Street at approximately 2 p.m. While police were responding to the call, they arrived to find it had escalated from a fight to a stabbing.

Inspector Stu Betts of the York Regional Police confirmed to The Auroran that the male victim was stabbed in the abdomen and is currently undergoing surgery at Sunnybrook.

The suspect was arrested and taken into custody and will be held pending a bail hearing on Friday morning.

The investigation continues.
