The Town of Aurora is set to contribute $500 to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) to support the Syrian Refugee Crisis through Lifeline Syria.
AMO is challenging all member municipalities to donate at least $100 to the international aid effort to resettle the refugees in safe countries.
$40,000 will save two families, but AMO hopes to exceed this goal. Lifeline Syria hopes to resettle and integrate 1,000 refugees into Ontario over the next two years. To find out more about how you can become involved with Lifeline Syria, the group is slated to host a public information session on Thursday, October 22, from 7 – 9 p.m. in Regional Council Chambers, Newmarket (17250 Yonge Street).
