Aurora has appointed Doug Nadorozny as Chief Administrative Office for the Municipality effective January 11.

Mayor Geoff Dawe announced the appointment on Thursday afternoon and lauded Mr. Nadorozny’s experience in the public sector.

“Doug Nadorozny has a wealth of experience both in the private sector ad as CAO,” said Mayor Dawe of the new appointee, who previously served as CAO for the City of Sudbury. “He brings a business perspective to delivery of public services and we look forward to his leadership of our talented staff in delivering on the programs and policies of Council.”

His appointment, notes the announcement, was made unanimously by Council.

Mr. Nadorozny has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and entered the realm of municipal life following a stint in the IT sector, growing a business to success in four cities across Ontario.

He later joined the City of Sudbury and rose through a number of positions, including General Manager for Planning, Building, Environment, Transit, Culture and Bylaw Enforcement, before taking the helm as CAO in 2008.

“Aurora has an excellent reputation in the municipal sector and I look forward to joining the dynamic Town in the New Year,” he said in a statement.

He succeeds Pat Moyle, who was named Aurora’s interim CAO following the departure of Neil Garbe for Richmond Hill earlier this year.
