Starsky Fine Foods took the time Saturday to thank its local customer base for welcoming them into the Aurora community one year ago.
The anniversary party included a free barbecue, face painting for the kids, and live music in an all-afternoon event.
Located on Bayview Avenue and one of four stores across Ontario, Starsky Fine Foods took over from the old Michelangelo’s location last September.
Catering to an Eastern European selection, the market is home to unique gourmet foods that may be difficult to find at a top-chain store.
“Although they have been here a while, we are officially welcoming Starsky Fine Foods here today,” said Mayor Geoff Dawe. “It’s a great indication of the diversity we’re starting to experience in Aurora. You can see some of the great things that comes along with diversity…the different cultures, the different opportunities to experience.
“To see people from other parts of the world, and their likes and tastes, is wonderful. We look forward to working with them for a very long time.”
Owner Piotr Zuski and his staff would also like to thank their vendors for “providing gifts and supporting us throughout the year.”
