Mayor Geoffrey Dawe presented Ron Weese of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame with a cheque for $5,000 at the Aurora Community Centre last week, part of the proceeds raised from last month’s annual Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament.

The money will go towards the ongoing support and sponsorship of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame. (ASHoF)

This year’s inductees to the ASHof include athletes Greg Hotham and Ed McNally, coach Bruce Stafford, as well as Alex Ansell, Ben Steenhorst, and Peter Miller (posthumously) who have all been honoured as Builders. This year’s induction ceremony and dinner will take place Wednesday, November 5 at The Mansion Events Centre. Tickets are $60. For more information, email ASHOFTKT@gmail.com

It’s a sporty week for Aurora as Sport Aurora hosts their traditional all-candidates meeting this Wednesday, October 15 at the Royal Canadian Legion at 105 Industrial Parkway North. The all-candidates meeting centred on a theme of sports and recreation, gets underway at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. For full coverage of this week’s debate, watch for next week’s edition of The Auroran.
