The Holidays are a busy month for all of us, celebrating with family and friends. This year marks the first time our Seniors’ Centre will be open on certain days to allow members to alleviate loneliness by coming and interacting with Friends.
The Centre will be open Monday, December 23, Tuesday, December 24 (half day), Friday, December 27, and Monday, December 30, with December 31 as a half day.

Gifts will be collected & distributed by Neighbourhood Network.

New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance
…will be held at the Aurora Seniors’ Centre, Monday, December 31. Doors open at 5 p.m. A limited number of tickets are available.

Pickle Ball Tournament
The ASA Pickle ball players held their annual year end tournament on December 3 and 6.This year’s fun tournament was a two day round robin format where players accumulated points based on the scores of their games.
Twenty players participated on both days. A final game for the championship was played between two mixed teams of those players compiling the most points over round-robin play. This year’s championship team was Ruth Pitkin and Harry Basil, runner up spot went to Joanne Keates and John Pitkin.
On the final day of the tournament, players enjoyed a pot luck meal of delicious appetizers and desserts. Special thanks to Cam Wilding for scorekeeping, Sue Wilding for photography, Mahi Akhavan for calling the lines and Ruth and John Pitkin for organizing the event. Many thanks also to Richard Howard in his role as acting Pickle ball Coordinator.

Aurora 150 Time Capsule
On behalf of the Aurora Seniors’ Centre, Ron Coe, Chair of our woodshop, donated a “ball point pen” that was beautiful handcrafted at our ASA woodshop. Many members have learnt and are learning from Ron on how to handcraft these pens with assorted casings. Hopefully the Aurora 150 committee will include this submission along with our latest newsletter in the 150 time capsule.
