The St. Maximilian Kolbe Mustangs will be riding quite a high heading into the YRAA basketball playoffs.
The long ball was key in the Mustangs 46 – 36 win over the crosstown rival Aurora High School Eagles on Monday, bringing their record to an impressive 6-1-0 on the season.
A back-and-forth first half was closed out with a three ball in the final minute, giving St. Max a 23 – 20 lead heading into halftime.
Continuing with more of the same in the third quarter, the Mustangs used their league-best defense to shut down the Eagles scoring efforts.
With playoff brackets yet to be set, the Mustangs will play host when the postseason begins next week. The bracket final is set for November 15 at Markham District.
The Eagles finish the regular season with a record of 2-6-0.
