Reader doesn’t buy Jazz argument

It is humorous that John Abel wrote what he did regarding the Aurora Jazz Fest and the fact that it moved to Newmarket.
Some of his well-chosen remarks, and the fact that Aurora Council has a well-documented chain of events, seems to try to fool the residents of Aurora into thinking that this Council had nothing to do with this amazing event leaving Aurora.
This concert put Aurora on the map, one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario. It attracted hundreds, if not thousands, of people to Aurora, where they spent money and supported many local businesses.
The fact that Abel states that the Town gave $5,000 to help the organizers should be a testament that the Town cares about the residents and wants to bring good programs to Aurora. How much money is the Town giving each year to the Cultural Centre, which draws many less people to Aurora?
How many other events and groups does the Town donate to? Does the fact the Sher St Kitts was a supporter of the past mayor come into play? I really hope not.
Aurora helps many groups each year which is a good thing and should continue.
Nice try, Mr. Abel.
