Local dancers let their talent shine at the Canadian National Exhibition’s Rising Star Talent Competition this past weekend.

The competition, which ran from August 19 to September 5 on the CNE grounds, celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

Hundreds of talented youth took the stage to compete for the $1,000 to $2,500 cash prizes and to entertain the crowd in the hopes of becoming the next Rising Star.

The group Rock N’ Roll Beethoven was one of them. The dancers belong to Evolution Dance Studio in Maple and include Allison Lee from Aurora and Daniel Tamburro and Ava Dipietro from Maple. They did very well in the competition this year, making it to the semi-final round.

Last year, Allison and Daniel competed with a duet and they made it to the finals. They finished third runner up.

Rachel Lee from Aurora also took part in the competition with her solo, Solitude. Unfortunately she did not advance.
