Canadian Cancer Society Thanks donors and volunteers

On April 1 to 30, over 400 local volunteers braved the cold and windy days for the Canadian Cancer Society.

They donated their time selling Hope Daffodils flowers and pins. Daffodils Days kicks-off Cancer Awareness Month and our annual Residential Campaign – be sure to support canvassers in your area!

If you missed your flowers this year be sure to pick-up a Daffodil Pin from one of our coin boxes located at many retailers across the community.
As usual, Aurora residents joined the fight and thousands of pins and flowers found a home. So far we’ve had a very successful campaign and we could not do that without the many volunteers who made it happen.

I asked a long-time volunteer what motivates her, she said “My son passed away at 36 years old, I sell daffodils for him”. Funds from this campaign support our local transportation program and fund world class research.

We would like to recognize all the local businesses who opened their doors to our volunteers to make this a successful campaign. We would also like to make a special mention of Skelton Truck lines who generously stored and refrigerated our daffodils for the duration of the campaign.

Thank you to all our volunteers and donors. We hope that this year will bring many new discoveries in the fight against cancer.
