Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, will be in Aurora on Saturday morning to review local cadets.
The Queen’s Provincial representative will serve as reviewing officer of the Queen’s York Rangers 2799 Army Cadet Corps’ 49th Annual Ceremonial Review Parade, which honours top cadets and features demonstrations by the cadet corps.
The ceremony will also unveil upcoming fundraising initiatives for the Corps’ VimyBound! Program, which aims to send members of the Corps to France in 2017 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a decisive Canadian victory in the First World War.
Ceremonies get underway at the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex on June 6 at 10 a.m.
Ms. Dowdeswell was invested as Lieutenant-Governor last fall, succeeding David Onley. In her role, she also serves as Colonel of the Regiment, a position in which she was installed this past February.
