There will be plenty of opportunities to pause and remember the fallen this week as organizations mark Remembrance Day.

This Friday, November 7, York Regional Police will host their fourth annual Remembrance Day Ceremony. This commemoration will get underway at 11 a.m. at the #3 District Headquarters at 3527 Baseline Road in Sutton.

Here in Aurora, Remembrance Week will be marked with the annual Veterans Dinner hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion (105 Industrial Parkway North), which gets underway at 6 p.m. This evening’s guest speaker is Lt. Col. Philip Halton of the Queen’s York Rangers, with entertainment provided by the McAndrews Sisters. Tickets are $15.

Aurora will pause to remember on Sunday, November 9 with the traditional Parade & Service at the Aurora Cenotaph, which is slated to get underway just before 11 a.m. The parade forms at Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School beginning at 10.15 a.m.

Observances return to the Cenotaph once again on Tuesday morning for the traditional service beginning at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day in the eleventh month. For more information, contact the Legion at 905-727-9932.
