She kept close tabs – and kept an eye out for – numerous community groups and athletes booking Aurora’s sports and recreation facilities for over 25 years, and now the legacy of the late Judy Sherin will continue at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex (ALFC).

Council will dedicate the ice pad at the ALFC in Ms. Sherin’s memory later this year.

“I think it is a most fitting tribute,” said Mayor Geoffrey Dawe. “Judy was known for being able to book 25 hours out of 24 hours of ice time, so she was extremely good at balancing the needs and desires of the various teams and groups.”

Ms. Sherin died on June 21 after a brief illness. She was 64.

Her husband, Terry, summed up the honour in two words, one of which is printable: “Amazing!”
