MAYOR’S BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS SPOTLIGHT: Ducks Swimming

Holly Biasi of Ducks Swimming won two gold medals in February at the 2017 Swim Ontario Winter Festival Provincial Championships for Girls 13, in both the 50 m and 100 m Freestyle events, as well as a silver medal in the 100 m Butterfly. Holly performed personal best times in all 3 of her events, setting two Ducks Club Records for Girls 13, 50 m and 100 m Freestyle, 27.39 and 1:00.14, respectively.
Holly repeated her Double Gold feat in June at the 2017 Swim Ontario Summer Festival Provincial Championships in the Girls 14 Category, winning the 50 m and 100 m Freestyle Events. Holly broke the magic minute mark for 100 m Freestyle, clocking an impressive 59.48.
Holly also anchored the 4 x 50 m Medley relay, securing a Silver Medal, along with team mates: Sydney LeBlanc (Backstroke), Abi Juhola (Breaststroke), Phoebe Redfern (Butterfly) and Holly Biasi (Freestyle).
Fourteen year old Stephen Liu of Ducks Swimming capturedtwo Gold in June at the 2017 Swim Ontario Summer Festival Provincial Championships in the 200 m Freestyle and 200 m Backstroke, as well as a Bronze Medal in the 100 m Breaststroke. Stephen Liu also set a New Ducks Club Record, Boys 14, 200 m Freestyle , with a time of 2:04.24. He also established New Club Records for Boys 14, for both the 100 m Back and 200 m Back, with times of 1:04.02 and 2:16.13, respectively.
Abigail Juhola (14) of Ducks Swimming delivered the Gold Medal performance in the 200 m Breaststroke event at the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Provincial Championships held in June. A great performance and a personal best by over 2 seconds. Abi also placed 6th in the 100 m Breaststroke.
Thirteen year-old George Zizakovic of Ducks Swimming claimed the gold medal in the 200 m Breaststroke in a time of 2.49.35 seconds at the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Provincial Championship with a huge personal best and a new Ducks Club Record. George also competed in the 100 m Breaststroke and the 400 m Freestyle events where he earned top 8 positions. Leading into the Provincial meet George was also victorious at Central Regional Championship where he won the 200 m Breaststroke.
Brent Davison of Ducks Swimming stepped twice to the podium at the 2017 Ontario Summer AA Provincial Championship. Brent claimed the bronze medal in the 200 m Butterfly event. On the last day of the meet he earned a win in a very close race in the 200 m Backstroke. Brent raced 4 events at Provincials and earned a personal best time for each race. He was also the lead of the 4x50m freestyle relay that came 8th in the final.
Thomas Nelander made a triumphant return to the 2017 Ontario Open Water Championships at Professor›s Lake in Brampton. Thomas surpassed last year›s 3rd place finish, reaching the top of the podium and earning Gold for Boys 13 years in the 2 km Distance Event. Thomas also raced in the pool at AA Provincial Championships where he won 2 Bronze Medals for the 100 m backstroke and 100 m butterfly events, a testament to Thomas’s tremendous versatility.
