Special Olympics teams from across Ontario converged on St. Andrew’s College last week for some serious court time.
The Aurora Dunks, the town’s representative team in Special Olympics basketball, played hosts for the annual Mary Matthews Basketball Tournament, featuring teams from across four divisions.
With players ranging in age from 18 to 38, Aurora took on teams in the tournament’s C division and come out with a bronze medal performance.
Two wins over the team from Collingwood, by scores of 16 – 14 and 14 – 12, was enough to secure them their third-place finish.
Playing in a handful of tournaments throughout the basketball season, the Dunks, who currently sport thirteen players, are always looking out for more athletes.
