The Tigers are roaring.
Seven AMHA rep teams booked their ticket last weekend to the York-Simcoe Hockey League finals, a number more than doubling any other team among the league.
Three teams within the Atom system have reached their respective championships, with the Minor Atom AAs the first to do so after taking down the Richmond Hill Stars in four games. They face the rival Newmarket Redmen beginning this week.
The Atom AAs had a similar path over Richmond Hill, and will face the Markham Waxers. In Atom A, the Tigers face the Innisfil Winterhawks, both of whom have lost just one game leading up to the championship series.
The Minor PeeWee AEs steamrolled the Redmen 6 – 0 last Friday to earn their spot in the final, set to battle with the Whitchurch-Stouffville Clippers this week.
The Tigers are the team to beat in the Minor Bantam A championship, undefeated so far in six YSHL games. They take on the NobleKing Knights.
Down one game to nothing in a 3 – 0 loss to Barrie in the opening game of their championship series, the Minor Bantam AE Tigers will be in tough when they take the ice for game two Tuesday following press time.
The most experienced squad remaining are the Bantam A Tigers, who rode a six-game winning streak into Game One Sunday of their series with the Orillia Terriers and took it 3 – 2.
