Learn more about pickleball this weekend

The Aurora Community Tennis Club (ACTC) Pickleball Committee is organizing our July 25 Pan Am celebration. This event is an opportunity for you to celebrate the Pan Am games and the launching of the Tennis in Canada Exhibit at the Aurora Historical Society (AHS) – Hillary House.
ACTC is a proud direct descendent of the Hillary family who started tennis in Aurora. The ACTC Board is providing committee support to the AHS as they implement their Pan Am program throughout the summer. Nancy Behm, our Club Pro is also touring the Tennis in Canada Exhibit with her summer children’s tennis camp program.
ACTC members will enjoy seeing a special area of the exhibit dedicated to the ACTC.
The event at McMahon Park will start at 11 a.m. and end approximately at 3 p.m. We will have four pickleball courts set up for all levels of play. Our Pickleball Committee will have experienced pickleball players coordinating the play for beginners, intermediate and competitive play.
We are also pleased that Andres Marco, an ACTC member and tennis coach for high performance juniors and adults has agreed to put on a coaching and play demonstration with his students.
The Aurora Lawn Bowling Association is also opening their doors and inviting people to try out lawn bowling.
A free barbecue lunch, hosted by our Pickleball Committee will be starting around 11.45 a.m.
One of our goals is to have more people (public and ACTC members) join our ACTC Pickleball Program. You can help by coming out and celebrating with us and consider joining our Pickleball program.
To encourage participation we have six prizes for those individuals who try out pickleball.
The prizes are a set of 3 raffle tickets valued at $20. These tickets will give winning recipients a chance to win thousands of dollars in the annual Magna Hoedown held in the fall.
