{"id":8657,"date":"2014-10-22T17:16:52","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T21:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=8657"},"modified":"2014-10-22T17:16:52","modified_gmt":"2014-10-22T21:16:52","slug":"committee-member-disappointed-over-gallos-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/committee-member-disappointed-over-gallos-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Committee member \u201cdisappointed\u201d over Gallo\u2019s comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the Sport Aurora All Candidates debate last week, Mr. Gallo made disparaging remarks in regards to the Mayor\u2019s Golf Tournament committee.<br \/>\nThese remarks simply cannot go unchallenged.<br \/>\nThis committee has been together for 17 years, through 14 tournaments, through which over $500,000 has been returned to local non-profit groups serving our community. This year, we were proud to donate $67,000 to 14 charities and community groups.<br \/>\nOur committee has always been aware of the possibility of being identified for political purposes and this is the main reason we chose to operate independently, outside of the Town Hall. Our committee is comprised of individuals who are all volunteers.
