York Regional Police are turning a blind eye to sign damage, according to Eva Pullano, wife of Council candidate Anthony Pullano. <\/p>\n

Mrs. Pullano says she was caught in the middle of a \u201cscary situation\u201d earlier this month while tending to election signs on the south end of John West Way. According to Mrs. Pullano, while checking up on her husband\u2019s signs that were part of a swath damaged in recent vandalism, she says she was driving her husband\u2019s car emblazoned with his election material when she was approached by a disturbed person \u201ccoming out of the bushes, running wearing sunglasses and waving his fists in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had with him a laptop with Anthony\u2019s website,\u201d she recalls. \u201cHe came right up to my window and I thought he was going to smash it through with his fist. I got really scared and he said, \u2018I know where you live.\u2019 I couldn\u2019t believe this was happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called the police and they came and spoke to me, they spoke to him and Anthony came. We went to the police station, the detective took the report down and was going to do more investigation. I was really scared and [felt] threatened, especially because he knows where I live. We have [our son] Jean-Luc to protect, so I feel I did the right thing calling the police.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three cruisers were called to the scene during the incident, which took place on the morning of October 8. Police responded to \u201ca male party damaging political signs,\u201d according to Constable Laura Nicolle of the York Regional Police. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith this incident, we were called to that area and responded,\u201d she said. \u201cWe had a suspect initially and that person was spoken to, interviewed, and ultimately no charges were laid because there essentially weren\u2019t grounds to charge that individual.\u201d
\nFor the Pullanos, however, this response did not go far enough. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think [Police] are in a position to ask what they are going to do about this guy because he is unstable,\u201d said Mr. Pullano. \u201cIt is like a useless process. If this man is really unstable, something should be done.
