The 26th Magna Hoedown is coming up soon.
\nTo date this event has raised over $8 million for countless charities, non-profits and community groups. Magna International considers it important to contribute to communities in which our employees live to make those communities stronger.
\nStrengthening community is exactly what Hoedown has been able to accomplish to date. It continues to be our goal as we present Hoedown 2014.
\nAt the wrap-up review of last year\u2019s Hoedown, our CEO, Don Walker, asked if we could create a second night under the Hoedown tent to benefit the community. I\u2019m pleased to announce we have done just that.
\nThe Magna Hoedown will feature two nights. Our regular Saturday night Hoedown will continue on September 13 as York Region\u2019s largest fundraising event.
\nYou will experience the same amazing entertainment, great food and community party it has been known for, all in support of our charities. Hoedown has become that one event each year that folks look forward to seeing the same familiar faces and attend with their groups of friends.
\nThis year, we\u2019ve also added a Friday night that you won\u2019t want to miss. We are featuring Tim Hicks as our headliner.
\nJust prior to Tim\u2019s performance at our Friday, September 12 event, he will be performing during this year\u2019s Canadian Country Music Awards show on September 7, 2014. He has been nominated for four 2014 CCMA Awards, including Rising Star, Album of the Year (for his debut album Throwdown), Songwriter of the Year for \u201cHell Raisin\u2019 Good Time\u201d and CMT Video of the Year for \u201cGot A Feeling\u201d featuring Blackjack Billy.
\nIn addition to Tim Hicks, and all the way from Las Vegas, we will feature the Wolf Creek Band, playing all your country favourites. And there\u2019s more. The finals of our Hoedown Showdown talent contest featuring our final 10 contestants will also take place.
\nThose in attendance will have an opportunity to text your vote for your favourite. Of course, there will be a silent auction and folks will be able to purchase food and beverages.
