With spring approaching, the Aurora Skating Club is once again getting ready for special ice show at the Aurora Community Centre on April 5 to mark a special anniversary.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a bi-annual ice show, so it\u2019s always very exciting for us,\u201d said the Aurora Skating Club\u2019s Vicky Yeack. \u201cThis year is especially exciting because it\u2019s out sixtieth year in Aurora, so we\u2019ve gone with a show called \u2018Legends and Icons.\u2019 It\u2019s the most exciting thing for everyone in the club and not just the skaters, but the coaches and the parents and community. It has always been very popular. It\u2019s kind of the icing on the cake.\u201d
\nThe competitive and recreational seasons are nearing an end, making the event one of the final shows for the Club.<\/p>\n

However, the club will also be embarking on their annual trip to Buffalo, where the club has had a large amount of success over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuffalo is really the end of the season for us. It\u2019s huge for us,\u201d Yaeck said. \u201cThey have the Cheney Cup down at the competition and we have brought it home seven years in a row. It\u2019s great and the kids always look forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Until then, the skaters have been working hard to make sure they put on a good show here at home on April 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it\u2019s only every two years, the kids always look to this with great anticipation,\u201d said coach and Learn to Skate co-director Allison Greenwood. \u201cWe started practices on Friday and they have been talking about it for months. They\u2019ve been wanting to know what music we\u2019re having and how it\u2019s going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cLegends and Icons\u201d show will have a little something for everyone, including some of the greatest musical hits of all time and some other feature skaters.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s out sixtieth year and we have the junior world champion Nam Nguyen coming to be our guest skater,\u201d Greenwood explained. \u201cHe just won World\u2019s last week. He\u2019s only 15 years old and he\u2019s just a spitfire. He\u2019s great. There are going to be bright costumes, bright lights, great music and lots of things to look at and buy. There will be something for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Advanced tickets for the April 5 show are currently on sale by visiting the Aurora Skating Club office at the Leisure Complex or can be purchased at the door for $15.<\/p>\n
