{"id":5865,"date":"2014-03-19T15:57:03","date_gmt":"2014-03-19T19:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=5865"},"modified":"2014-03-26T13:32:02","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T17:32:02","slug":"aurora-council-approves-3-75-tax-hike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/aurora-council-approves-3-75-tax-hike\/","title":{"rendered":"Aurora Council approves 3.75% tax hike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Brock Weir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aurora homeowners can expect to pay just over $109 more in property taxes for 2014, following Tuesday night&#8217;s Council meeting. <\/p>\n<p>Councillors formally signed off on a 3.75 per cent property tax hike at Tuesday&#8217;s Council meeting, following months of debate. <\/p>\n<p>Combined with a tax hike from the Regional level, as well as school taxes, it will result in an overall hit of 1.99 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>For the average Aurora home marked with $550,000 in assessment value, this will result in an increase of $109.44.
