{"id":5766,"date":"2014-03-05T15:16:05","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T20:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=5766"},"modified":"2014-03-26T14:15:42","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T18:15:42","slug":"sarc-staff-receive-thanks-after-reviving-collapsed-skater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/sarc-staff-receive-thanks-after-reviving-collapsed-skater\/","title":{"rendered":"SARC staff receive thanks after reviving collapsed skater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, Edwin Jackson was able to give thanks in person to staff at the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex (SARC) for saving his life after collapsing at the centre on February 21. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Town, Mr. Jackson collapsed at around 3.10 that afternoon while playing hockey at the rink. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeammates trained in CPR went to Mr. Jackson\u2019s assistance, started compressions and retrieved the Automated External Defibrillator (AED),\u201d said Michael Kemp, Manager of Corporate Communications for the Town of Aurora. \u201cTown staff also came to Mr. Jackson\u2019s assistance and took over doing CPR using the AED. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMinutes after administering CPR and the AED, Mr. Jackson regained consciousness and was breathing. Paramedics arrived shortly afterward and transported Mr. Jackson to Southlake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was well enough to return to the SARC on Friday afternoon to thank those who had played a crucial role in saving his life, including aquatic programmer Greg Peri, deck supervisor Oliver Koh, acting youth coordinator Franco DeMarco, and lifeguard Andrew Racine. <\/p>\n<p>The defibrillator was donated to
