{"id":38842,"date":"2026-09-03T12:30:01","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T16:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=38842"},"modified":"2026-09-03T12:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T16:30:12","slug":"york-region-transits-school-routes-return-september-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/york-region-transits-school-routes-return-september-8\/","title":{"rendered":"York Region Transit\u2019s school routes return September 8"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">York Region students return to school next week \u2013 and special bus routes designed to get them to school and back home again are hitting the roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">York Region Transit (YRT) announced several transit changes on September 1 ahead of back-to-school season, some routes of which have been modified since June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSchedule and route adjustments will be made to various routes to better align transit service with customer demand and&nbsp;operate&nbsp;service more efficiently across the transit network,\u201d says YRT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Returning and modified school routes include:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 426 \u2013 Dr. G.W. Williams School Special via Stone:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Adjusted to operate along St. John&#8217;s Sideroad to increase service coverage;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 432\u00a0\u2013 Aurora School Special via Mavrinac:\u00a0Updated to operate along Mavrinac Boulevard and St. John&#8217;s Sideroad to provide increased service coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 437 \u2013 St. Maximilian Kolbe School Special via\u00a0Mavrinac:\u00a0Modified\u00a0to operate along\u00a0Mavrinac\u00a0Boulevard and St. John\u2019s Sideroad to\u00a0increase service coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 438 \u2013 St. Maximilian Kolbe School Special via Orchard Heights:\u00a0Introduced to serve students travelling between the Orchard Heights neighbourhood and St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic High School.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Additional school routes beyond Aurora include:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 404 \u2013 Markville School Special:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Revised due to redevelopment on Helen Avenue, service will begin from\u00a0a new stop at\u00a0Greenwater\u00a0Gate\/Lane 8;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 414 \u2013 St. Katharine Drexel School Special:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Extended to serve the subdivision south of Hoover Park Drive, an\u00a0additional\u00a0morning trip will be\u00a0added to support growing ridership;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Routes 418 and 419 \u2013 Pierre Elliott Trudeau School Specials:\u00a0Restructured into\u00a0two separate routes:\u00a0418\u00a0via\u00a016th Avenue and\u00a0419 via Major Mackenzie Drive;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 445 \u2013 St. Robert School Special via Spadina:\u00a0Additional afternoon trip\u00a0added\u00a0to address overcrowding;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Routes 464 and 465 \u2013 St. Joan of Arc School Specials:\u00a0Revised to better serve communities\u00a0around\u00a0Peter Rupert Avenue and\u00a0Sweetriver\u00a0Boulevard, with\u00a0Route 465 renamed;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>St. Joan of Arc School Special via Peter Rupert;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 468 \u2013 Emily Carr School Special via\u00a0Kleinburg:\u00a0Discontinued due to low ridership;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route 471 \u2013 Stephen Lewis School Special via Dufferin<strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>Renamed and revised to\u00a0operate\u00a0along\u00a0Ravineview\u00a0Drive, Kirby\u00a0Road\u00a0and Dufferin
