\nAurora Seniors Evergreen Choir:<\/strong>
\nWith the coming of Fall our members are eagerly looking forward to this new season. There is great satisfaction in learning a new skill. If you like to sing, we would love to have you join us. You do not need to have belonged to a previous choir, and there is no audition required, there is a place for all voices.
\nThe choir, formed by our member Enid Maize, and now under the direction of Dr. Richard Heinzle, will commence its fall season starting this Wednesday, September 11 at 1.30 p.m. Registration can be made at the front desk of the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre. There is a semester from September to December, and another from January to June. The cost to join the choir is $50.00 and it is open to all seniors 55 or over who are members of the Centre. If you are not a resident of Aurora, the cost to join the Centre $25.
\nSince its formation in 2006, the Evergreen Choir has grown in numbers and in reputation, presenting two concerts a year at the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre, and performing throughout the York Region at churches, senior residences, The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, and in Toronto, at the Big Sing in 2011. <\/p>\n

Country & Western Dance: <\/strong>
\nHeld at the seniors centre on August 16, this was a very successful event with close to 90 members, guests and volunteers in attendance, many dressed in country and western outfits. By all accounts it was a successful event and one that should be repeated! We wish to take this opportunity to thank our house DJ for playing the music, our thanks to the ASA- line dancers who came out and demonstrated the various line dancing tunes and all the others who danced the night away! Our thanks also to the Organizing & Social committees of this event for looking after the prizes, refreshments, decorations and bar services, and Bill Hawke for all set up arrangements of the West\/McKenzie Hall.<\/p>\n

Seniors Day at the Aurora Farmers\u2019 Market:<\/strong>
\n(August 3) We had three active booths of items for sale. All were made by the Seniors\u2019 Centre\u2019s different groups: the Knotty Knitters, Sew Much Fun and the Rebels Wood shop. Entertainment included line dancing provided by our own line dancers \u2013 they were full of energy and very entertaining on stage! \u2013 as well as story and joke tellers, Brian had several challengers for chess games. The audience was great and very appreciative. Our thanks as well to Jan Freedman and the Farmers Market Executive Committee for giving ASA members the opportunity to entertain and sell our crafts.<\/p>\n

Friday Night Dances:<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s September and we\u2019re back with our popular Friday night social dances. Join us in the West-McKenzie room at the Seniors\u2019 Centre the first and third Friday of the month from 8 p.m. \u2013 11 p.m. Line Dance practice is from 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dances feature a wide range of recorded music provided by our House DJs. A small fee applies and includes light refreshments, tea and coffee.
\nA cash bar is available with wine, beer and soft drinks at reasonable prices. Dances are on September 20, October 5 and 18, November 1 and 15, and December 6 and 20.
\nLine Dance enthusiasts are welcome to join our Line Dance Practice group every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. in the West-McKenzie Room starting this week.<\/p>\n
