A 52-year-old massage therapist is facing two sexual assault charges following a York Regional Police investigation in Aurora and Newmarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charged is Augusto Oliveira Cunha, of Newmarket, who Police say was working out of a wellness clinic near Yonge Street and Edward Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charges have not been proven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn April 8, 2026, the victim attended a massage appointment at a wellness clinic in the area of Yonge Street and Edward Street. During the massage, the suspect began touching the victim for a sexual purpose,\u201d Police allege. \u201cThe following day Augusto Oliveira Cunha\u2026was charged with one count of sexual assault. On May 21, 2026, a second victim came forward and reported having been sexually assaulted by the suspect at the same clinic. The victim had attended a massage appointment on April 4, 2026. During the massage, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police say he is \u201cknown to have been employed at several wellness clinics in Aurora and Newmarket.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature,\u201d say Police. \u201cYork Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. If someone is not ready to report, however is seeking support, please contact York Region Victim Services or the Women\u2019s Support Network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
