Logan Ritchie\u2014the Aurora Tigers\u2019 PA voice and Social Media guru\u2014was named the 2025-26 Ontario Junior Hockey League\u2019s Volunteer of the Year on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grade 11 student at Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket was taken aback when he read about the honor bestowed upon him by the OJHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was really surprised\u2014I didn\u2019t expect it all. I opened my phone and saw \u2018Aurora\u2019s Logan Ritchie Named Volunteer of the Year\u2019 on the website and said to myself, \u2018Wait a sec.\u2019 I was honored and really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tigers\u2019 General Manager and Head Coach James Thomson described Ritchie in the most glowing of terms during his interview with OJHL staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora\u2019s recently-installed Head Coach complimented Ritchie for \u201ccompletely tak[ing] over and reinvent[ing] our digital footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLogan\u2019s dedication to his craft, consistent ingenuity, and persistent attitude has resulted in one of the best social media presences in our league.  We\u2019re incredibly lucky to work with him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Thomson\u2019s words of praise were read to Ritchie, the 16-year-old aspiring electrician noted that it made him \u201cfeel great.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad– and I appreciate–that they\u2019ve placed their trust in me. I loved hearing that from James\u2014this will motivate me even more. I feel valued.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ritchie is in his fourth year as a tireless volunteer for the Tigers and he noted that of all the jobs he carries out for the Junior A club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the Media I enjoy the most.  I keep getting better and better at it.  I enjoy promoting the team, the players, the big plays, the birthdays\u2014I like to get the ideas out there and like working from my desk.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked to define the most enjoyable part of being the Tigers\u2019 PA voice, Ritchie described the energy created by \u201cbeing around the game environment\u2014it\u2019s great.  The players have appreciated what I\u2019ve done during the games over the last three years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also described the benefits of assuming so many responsible positions with the Tigers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really like doing the work\u2014it fills the weekends and I like doing this job on the side. It gives me a strong background.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ritchie discussed how his experiences with the Tigers complement his school work at Sacred Heart CHS which he described as \u201ca good place. I have no complaints.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that his favorite subjects in Grade 11 are \u201cMath and Science\u2014I recognize their importance \u2013 but I\u2019d like to go to Trade School. This semester, I\u2019m doing a four-credit Co-Op package with an electrician in Keswick. We drive around and provide residential, industrial, and commercial repair services. I\u2019d like to go to Seneca to study to become an electrician.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers\u2019 Digital Media Coordinator and Game Day Operations Executive acknowledged that there will be electricity in the air when he\u2019s recognized by the 24-team association during the OJHL\u2019s Championship Series in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked how such a centre ice ceremony will make him feel in a loud arena in Junior A hockey hotbeds such as Collingwood, Trenton, or Stouffville, Ritchie noted that \u201cI\u2019m going to feel honored.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll be an incredible experience. I can\u2019t believe where this is going. I started doing this for the Volunteer Hours, but after three years, it\u2019s become much more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
