{"id":35247,"date":"2024-10-24T16:24:29","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T20:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=35247"},"modified":"2024-10-24T16:24:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T20:24:42","slug":"tigers-losing-streak-snapped-with-thrilling-2-1-ot-win-over-toronto-patriots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/tigers-losing-streak-snapped-with-thrilling-2-1-ot-win-over-toronto-patriots\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigers\u2019 losing streak snapped with thrilling 2-1 OT win over Toronto Patriots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s call it addition by subtraction, but days after jettisoning three of its veterans, the Aurora Tigers inexplicably defeated the Toronto Patriots 2-1 in OT on Friday night at the ACC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The significant upset of OJHL West\u2019s fourth-place squad was a big home ice victory for the young Tigers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Patriots (10-3-0-1) came into the game heavy favorites to defeat the veteran-deprived Tigers (4-8-0-1), but it was Aurora\u2019s Luc Warner who opened the scoring at 3:46 of the first period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Aurora resident\u2019s first goal of the season was assisted by another Auroran\u2014Tristen Aben\u2014and Michael Piao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patriot forward Gabriel Mamedov fired his eighth goal of the campaign\u2014assisted by Brice Cooke and Anthony Giacolone\u2014to tie the game 1-1 thirteen minutes into the middle frame.
