{"id":35082,"date":"2024-09-19T17:10:57","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T21:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=35082"},"modified":"2024-09-19T17:10:58","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T21:10:58","slug":"aurora-soccer-club-celebrates-its-70th-anniversary-as-york-regions-longest-standing-soccer-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/aurora-soccer-club-celebrates-its-70th-anniversary-as-york-regions-longest-standing-soccer-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Aurora Soccer Club celebrates its 70th Anniversary as \u201cYork Region\u2019s Longest Standing Soccer Club\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Aurora Soccer Club\u2014one of the Town\u2019s oldest and most venerable sports organizations&#8211; celebrated its 70<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festive event took place at the ASC\u2019s Clubhouse on Industrial Parkway South \u2014its home since 1987.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Club, which inspires \u201cactive community and connection, accessibility, and soccer for life,\u201d promotes itself as \u201cYork Region\u2019s Longest-Standing Soccer Club\u201d and has been serving Aurora since 1954.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ron Weese, President of Sport Aurora, described the Club\u2019s impressive sporting legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLiterally thousands of soccer players in Aurora owe a debt of gratitude to the Aurora Soccer Club. The vision of the original founders continues to this day. The growth and success of the sport is their legacy and present-day sports leaders stand on their shoulders as they continue the work started so long ago.&nbsp; Sport Aurora congratulates the Club for reaching this important milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roy Cohen, President of the Aurora Youth Soccer Club, agreed that the ASC\u2019s anniversary is an important one for local soccer players\u2014both young and old: \u201cAbsolutely.
