{"id":32029,"date":"2022-10-13T23:26:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-14T03:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=32029"},"modified":"2022-10-21T17:35:37","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T21:35:37","slug":"online-voting-begins-friday-ahead-of-october-24-municipal-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/online-voting-begins-friday-ahead-of-october-24-municipal-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Online voting begins Friday ahead of October 24 municipal election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While most Aurorans are set to go to the polls on Monday, October 24, if you\u2019ve already made your choice for Mayor, Ward Councillor and Trustee, you will be able to cast your ballot as early as this Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Online voting across Aurora begins October 14 at 10 a.m. and will continue for eligible voters through October 23 at 12 noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInternet voting is easy, secure and accessible any time of day and can be done from your computer, tablet or smartphone,\u201d said the Town in a statement. \u201cAdvanced voting can also be done in-person from October 15 to 19 at the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre located at 90 John West Way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In-person advanced voting will be held October 15 and 16 from 12 noon to 6 p.m., and October 17, 18, and 19 from 4 \u2013 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Come election day, all polling stations \u2013 and yours will be noted on voter cards which went out in the mail earlier this month \u2013 will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and no internet voting will be available on Election Day itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you did not receive your Voter Notification Card in the mail, you must vote in-person during the advanced voting period or on Election Day with photo identification.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make sure you\u2019re on the Voters\u2019 List, you can have it added by visiting aurora.ca\/vote2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There, you will also find information related to the Ward you\u2019re living in, a change from Aurora\u2019s traditional at-large system of Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mayoral candidates are Phiona Durrant, Anna Lozyk Romeo and Tom Mrakas (incumbent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Council candidates are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 1: Nick Biase, Sandra Humfryes (incumbent), Ron Weese<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 2: Alison Connolly, Marco Di Girolamo, Rachel Gilliland (incumbent), Daniel Lajeunesse<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 3: Alexandra Bonham, Wendy Gaertner (incumbent), Owen Heritage, Harold MacDonald<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 4: Iwona Czarnecka, Carson Day, Michael Thompson (incumbent)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 5: Ian Clark, Steve Fleck, John Gallo (incumbent), Mae Khamissa, Robert Lounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ward 6: Robert James Fraser, Harold Kim (incumbent), Greg Smith<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">York Region School Board Trustee Candidates for Aurora and Whitchurch-Stouffville are: Luther C. Brown, Bridget Kilgallon, Asim Sayed, Mary Sled-Lucas, Elizabeth Terrell, and Melanie Wright. Candidates for Aurora King and Whitchurch-Stouffville\u2019s Trustee at the York Catholic District School Board are Elizabeth Crowe (incumbent) and Al Itwar.
