{"id":31755,"date":"2022-08-11T20:47:39","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T00:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=31755"},"modified":"2022-08-11T20:47:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-12T00:47:45","slug":"local-girl-proud-to-represent-team-canada-in-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/local-girl-proud-to-represent-team-canada-in-michigan\/","title":{"rendered":"Local girl proud to represent Team Canada in Michigan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long-time King Weekly Sentinel newspaper carrier Tristan Tobin has a lot more to her than just bringing the paper to your door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 14-year-old King Township native will be representing Team Canada at the North American Youth Championships in Traverse City, Mich. this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been quite a long journey for Tobin, and one that began right at the height of COVID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While enduring the hardships of online school, she made it a goal of hers to get into equestrian and to earn a spot on the Young Riders team. Throughout her time, Tobin also crafted a lengthy power-point presentation to showcase her dreams in front of both of her parents, Kyle Tobin and Jenny Dwight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCOVID taught me to work independently and remotely so I can stay connected and keep up with my classes,\u201d Tobin said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following endless hours of practice, Tobin achieved her goal of getting comfortable enough in handling a 1.20 height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With her sister Reese as her inspiration, Tobin will be riding her sister\u2019s jump horse, Dartagnan Z.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicknamed \u201cDart,\u201d the Zangersheide Gelding horse is her trusty side-kick as Tobin follows in her sister\u2019s path. Reese was a former competitive rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a letter written to the Tobin family from Chief Executive Officer from Equestrian Canada, Meg Krueger, Tobin was highly praised for her \u201cperseverance, adaptability and strength of character.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tobin and \u201cDart\u201d have been training in Schomberg at Gryphon Farms by Mac and Christi McQuaker.
