Aurora resident Meghan Seybold completed her goal last week to\nride 2,200 kilometres in support of youth mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seybold had the idea of \u201cThe Imagine Ride\u201d more than a year\nago. Last August, she partnered with Jack.org, vowing to assist youth in need\nwho are currently enduring mental health hurdles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She says she can\u2019t believe how fast this went. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gone by really quickly in a lot of ways. Some days\nfelt very long. But, overall, it\u2019s an amazing experience and I\u2019m glad it\u2019s at\nthis point now.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since beginning her ride on June 1, she has been on a trainer\non Mondays and Wednesdays aiming for 75 kilometre rides each time. All sessions\nwere broadcasted live on Facebook and Zwift. On the weekends, she averaged 100\nkilometres per day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI hope the ride has opened up a conversation and hopefully\ndrawn attention to the topic of youth mental health especially now in light of\nCOVID. Hopefully it\u2019s making people aware of resources available through Jack.org\nand where to go to ask for help if they don\u2019t know where to turn. Whether or\nnot they are personally experiencing struggles with mental health or they know\nsomeone struggling, hopefully this has invited a conversation into homes and\ninto communities,\u201d Seybold elaborated.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As someone who lived with depression when she was younger,\nSeybold has raised over $32,000 for Jack.org. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her final 60 kilometres, Seybold was supported by\nneighbours, friends and Jack.org Sponsorship Lead Ryan Martin, who commended\nSeybold\u2019s past month as incredibly inspiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s massive. She has a family. She has a full-time career\n(which is busier than ever) and she has time to do this,\u201d Martin said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a huge investment. I think it\u2019s an incredibly\ninspiring thing she has done.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin, an employee with Jack.org for the past year, says he\nfell into the organization naturally. As a passionate advocate of mental\nhealth, he says the work environment is full of dedicated individuals to aid\nothers in an era where he says, that mental health can be made \u201ccool.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seybold, a 51-year-old mother, has earned plenty of support\nfrom her colleagues at RBC, neighbours, friends and family through her journey.\nThrough the rain or intense heat, she managed to complete her feat in just over\na month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the near future, Seybold says this is not the end. She\nlooks forward to spending more time with her family while continuing to\nadvocate for changes to support positive youth mental health. Donations can still\nbe made at www.imagineride.ca<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, 28,000 youth were on the waiting list pre-COVID-19, to speak with a psychiatrist according to the Children\u2019s Mental Health of Ontario (CMHO). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
