While enduring the COVID-19 pandemic, it might be important\nto note that the natural flow of society will return. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected that restaurants, bars, retail stores and\nsports leagues will re-open everywhere at some point, opening the door for\nresidents to have a reprieve from social isolation and physical distancing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question to think about is what will happen once\neverything does? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, for sports leagues, the answer is still up in\nthe air. Leagues will return and while some families have had the bitter result\nof losing their jobs, the loss of income will still be felt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means the opportunity for a child to participate in a\nrecreational activity might also be lost when things return to normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora residents and Re\/Max Real Estate Sales Representative\nAngie Vallelunga and Broker Mauro Bucci have made a concerted effort with Sport\nAurora\u2019s All Kids Can Play Program,\nwith the hopes to raise a total of $25,000 in the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe thought about the program in the fall because we were looking\nto support a charity in our community since we\njust moved to Aurora close to four years ago,\u201d Vallelunga told The Auroran. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bucci, who is a member of Aurora Business Association (BIA),\nheard of All Kids Can Play from good-friend and General Manager of Aw, Shucks Mary\nGeorgopoulos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary has long been involved in the All Kids Can Play Program\nand connected the realtors with Laurie Mueller, the program\u2019s Executive\nDirector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both realtors began this program in January as their third\ndonation project and fourth since they began donating in 2009. They both\ncurrently donate money in support of Children\u2019s Miracle Network Hospitals and\nSick Kids. Previously, they donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. However,\ntheir intentions are now strictly on helping children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBasically, what we want is to help out our future and the\nkids are our future. We felt, having children of\nour own, it was important to help out kids in need,\u201d said Bucci. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bucci says they were originally going to donate through the\nprocess of referrals. For every referral that is sent, $500 is donated. In the\nlong run, Bucci and Vallelunga discovered that wouldn\u2019t be practical because\nnot every referral was out of Aurora and not everyone uses their services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, along with the referral program, both agents have established\nanother method of donating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re also contributing through every sale transaction that\nwe do. There is a portion of our income that will be donated to the program,\u201d\nVallelunga said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s the same method used to donate to the other two\ncharities and both agents wish to do the same for this one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, All Kids Can Play supported approximately 60\nchildren across the Town to play recreational sports. Bucci and Vallelunga want\nto double that, triple that, even quadruple that if it meant to help as many\nchildren as possible through this program, for families who cannot afford for\ntheir children to play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat we love about this program is helping the families\nthat can\u2019t afford to really make their kids play in order to keep them active\nand healthy, which is extremely important since electronics are consuming too\nmuch of their time,\u201d Vallelunga said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both love the community of Aurora and say they are honoured\nto live in it. They planned on giving back and this is their means of\naccomplishing that goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the mission set at $25,000, only time will tell how\nlong it will take to complete it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe do not know if it will it take one year, two years,\nthree years to accomplish our objective but one thing is for sure we are\nextremely committed to make it happen,\u201d Vallelunga said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right now, it\u2019s all about the children playing and helping\nfamilies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this period of uncertainty, Vallelunga and Bucci urge the\nsupport of local businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
