{"id":26339,"date":"2020-04-09T18:48:50","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T22:48:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=26339"},"modified":"2020-04-09T18:48:55","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T22:48:55","slug":"vulnerable-citizens-focus-of-aurora-cares-community-action-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/vulnerable-citizens-focus-of-aurora-cares-community-action-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Vulnerable citizens focus of Aurora Cares Community Action Team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Helping Aurora\u2019s most vulnerable citizens during the\nCOVID-19 pandemic is the focus of a newly-established task force set to convene\nelectronically this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, the Town of Aurora announced the creation of\nthe new \u201cAurora Cares Community Action Team\u201d, which will be dedicated to\nexamining the needs of Aurora\u2019s most vulnerable and at-risk residents and\ngroups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group will be steered by political leaders,\nrepresentatives from seniors\u2019 organizations, local service clubs, and the\nbusiness community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Town of Aurora has always been recognized as being a\ncommunity that is giving, generous and dedicated to helping those in need,\u201d\nsaid Mayor Tom Mrakas in a statement. \u201cKeeping this in mind, I believe that the\nTown must help the citizens in our community who are most vulnerable. We need\nto respond to those emerging needs and provide tools and resources to assist\nour citizens during this very difficult and confusing time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In establishing the Aurora Cares Community Action Team,\nthe Town recognizes the significant impact COVID-19 is having on all parts of\nthe community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring this difficult time, all levels of government are\nworking together to find solutions to address the challenges citizens and\nbusinesses are facing,\u201d says the Town. \u201cThis team will assess the emerging\nneeds of the most vulnerable and at risk in our community, such as citizens who\nmay become homeless or who are homeless, seniors, disabled persons and those\nwho rely on food banks.
