PJs & Pancakes sets sights on Valentine\u2019s weekend<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What comes to mind when you think of a nice, cozy pair of\npyjamas?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it\u2019s a warm morning at home on a cold winter\u2019s day.\nMaybe it\u2019s cuddling up in bed with a good book. For some youngsters battling a\nlife-changing illness, however, it might mean bringing the comforts of home in\nfor a hospital stay, or an early morning trek for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But a morning at home in your pyjamas this Valentine\u2019s\nDay weekend, tucking into a stack of pancakes with your family can help\nbrighten the future for young kids across Ontario who might not have that\nluxury as Aurora\u2019s Beswick family \u2013 siblings Kate, Meghan and Jack \u2013 brings\ntheir PJs & Pancakes initiative back for the most romantic weekend of the\nyear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PJs & Pancakes, an initiative benefiting POGO \u2013 the\nPediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, has been a Thanksgiving staple for the\npast two years, helping the Beswick siblings raise more than $50,000 for\nchildren\u2019s cancer programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, they\u2019ve flipped the script on the Pancake\ninitiative, bringing it once again into people\u2019s homes just in time for\nValentine\u2019s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a $50 minimum donation, with every dollar benefiting\nPOGO, you can order a box that includes everything you need for a bountiful\nbreakfast, from pre-mixed pancake batter to fresh maple syrup, from coffee and\njuice to fresh fruit, from Valentine\u2019s treats to even a heart-shaped pancake\nmould, enough to feed a family of four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were inspired to bring it to Valentine\u2019s Day this\nyear because we wanted to share the love back, not only in terms of our\ncommunity and bringing people together to support POGO, but also to love the\npeople who have supported us over the last two years and really made this event\nsomething so special. Through our Instagram page last year, we had lots of\npeople tagging us, posting photos of them and their families making pancakes\nfrom home and people said it was something so special to gather with their\nfamilies and really make the time to have breakfast together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPOGO\u2019s feedback has been amazing as well. They have\nalways just supported us and tried to help us in whatever way they could. We\nreally love that and I think that the relationship between my siblings and I,\nthis event and POGO, is special because we\u2019re also kids in Ontario and we\u2019re\ndoing this to support the people who live in our neighbourhood and who face a\nstruggle that we cannot even imagine, but who are similar to us in so many ways,\nand I feel like it is just even more of a special connection to have kids doing\nthis for other kids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a $10,000 goal in mind for this season\u2019s initiative,\nthe Beswicks hope they will be as successful as ever in helping to support the\n4,000 children in Ontario who are currently fighting cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re hoping every family who buys a box will share and\nenjoy pancakes at home with their families in their PJs and also take some time\nto consider and think about the families of children fighting cancer in Ontario\ntoday,\u201d says Meghan. \u201cWith the support of everyone who buys a box or\ncontributes a donation, every dollar we earn goes directly to the Paediatric\nOncology Group of Ontario and the children they support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis initiative has definitely made my siblings and I\nmore aware of how much it takes to make a difference and help out, how also how\nlittle it takes to find a cause that you connect with and put yourself out\nthere. We have had such success and an amazing response from the community who\nwants to support us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
