A second \u201csuspicious\u201d tow truck blaze in little over a week left York Regional Police officers to canvas an east Aurora neighbourhood on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police suspect a fire which ripped through a tow truck\nbelonging to an Aurora business early Tuesday morning was \u201cintentionally set\u201d\nand is just one of a rash of similar fires that have hit York Region and the\nGreater Toronto Area in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday morning, Police were called to a report of a\nvehicle fire on Hartwell Way near William Graham Drive shortly after 5 a.m.\nWhen officers arrived, they found a tow truck that had been on fire, but was\nalready extinguished by Central York Fire Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were no injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident is the second following another suspicious\ntow truck fire on the morning of Sunday, January 26, this time on McLeod Drive\nin the Bathurst and Wellington Street West neighbourhood. In this instance,\nwhen Police arrived on the scene shortly after 5 a.m., they found an empty gas\ncontainer lying nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere have been numerous incidents of suspected arson\ninvolving tow trucks right across the GTA, especially in York Region,\u201d\nConstable Andy Pattenden told The Auroran. \u201cThere have also been shootings and\nother violence associated with tow trucks. Every incident is being investigated\non its own and we\u2019ll keep an open mind to any links in any of these cases.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At press time, the York Regional Police couldn\u2019t say whether\nany surveillance camera footage captured images of the suspects, but Police\nspent Tuesday knocking on nearby doors for witnesses and footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe aware of these incidents that are taking place and [tow truck owners] should use any precautions they can to protect their property,\u201d said Constable Pattenden. \u201cA camera is obviously one of the greatest tools to hopefully prevent some of these things from occurring, but if they do happen, they act as great evidence afterwards.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have\nwitnessed anything suspicious is urged to come forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
