There you have it, the Tigers win for the first time in\n14 games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aurora Tigers snapped their winless streak with a\nthrilling victory in double overtime against the Georgetown Raiders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Jim Wells Jr. was exceptionally proud that his\nteam earned a victory, given their hard work and efforts over the last few\nweeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, the number one thing I was really happy with is we\ntalked about, regardless of what was going on on the ice, to work their hardest,\u201d\nsaid Wells. \u201cThey worked their hardest for 60 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was really happy to see the team, that their hard work\npaid off and they were rewarded with a win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In practice earlier in the week, Wells focused on\ntwo-on-one and two-on-two situations, how isolating one defender can lead to\ngoals. He emphasized creativity, carrying the puck in the zone and ended the session\nwith goal-scoring activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems last week\u2019s practice transmitted over to the\ngames. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first period against the Raiders, the Tigers\noffence daunted the Raiders defence, especially on the power play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An excellent chance for Kaleb Nelson to end his nine-game\ngoalless drought was denied by Alex Vendette, who slid across his crease\nstacking the pads on the young forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second period, the Tigers fell into some trouble,\nconceding two goals in the first five minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, nobody on the bench was despondent to the situation\nthe boys faced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe older guys were staying positive on the bench,\u201d said\nTigers forward Braedon McKinnon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resilience and positivity from the boys paid\ndividends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McKinnon passed the puck to the point to defenceman Tyson\nLambert, whose point shot was tipped in by Jalen Balbosa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third period, Steven Li got his first goal since\nreturning from injury with a hard-fought effort in front of the net, jamming\nthe puck past Vendette. The Tigers outshot the Raiders 10 to eight in the\nthird, forcing overtime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the first overtime devoid of goal scoring, the\nsecond overtime finalized the story of the night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McKinnon forced the turnover in the neutral zone and\nbroke free on goal just over a minute into the frame. The forward jammed the\npuck in beneath the pad, sealing the victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Raiders protested a non-call on the play of the goal,\nin which the officials did not feel obligated to accommodate it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLots of relief, it was like, 20 games since I last\nscored too, and we haven\u2019t won in a while too so it felt good,\u201d said McKinnon,\nafter scoring his fourth of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, it\u2019s seldom the Tigers earn a victory; there\nwas a new feeling on a Friday night after the game. Music was blaring from the\ndressing room and the coaches left the arena with a smile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next night against the Markham Royals would be a\ntough test. The Tigers have defeated the Royals twice this year out of the six\nwins the team has accumulated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Royals trounced the Tigers 8-3. When a team desires\nrevenge that much, they\u2019ll do anything to accomplish it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers face the Wellington Dukes this Thursday night on the road, before returning to Markham to take on the Royals this Friday night. Both puck drops are at 7.30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
