York Regional Police are seeking the public\u2019s help in\nongoing investigations into two Aurora bank robberies last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two male suspects are currently being sought following an\narmed robbery at the HSBC Bank on the northwest corner of Bayview Avenue and\nHollidge Boulevard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, January 14, shortly after 2 p.m. York\nRegional Police were called to the bank for a report of a robbery. When Police\narrived, they found employees in the bank who were not physically injured, but\nthe investigation revealed that two men \u2013 one armed with a handgun \u2013 entered\nthe bank and made a demand for cash. The employees complied and the suspects\nfled in a black sedan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately\n5\u201910\u201d, armed with a handgun, wearing a black jacket, dark-coloured pants and a\nblack bandana covering his face. The second suspect is described as a black\nmale, approximately 5\u20196\u201d, wearing a black jacket, dark coloured pants and a\nblack bandana covering his face. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInvestigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business\nowners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance\nequipment,\u201d said Police in a statement. \u201cQuality images help identify suspects,\ncan aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A further armed robbery took place on Thursday, January\n16 at a bank at the corner of Bayview and Wellington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThree male\nsuspects entered the bank, at least one was armed with a firearm,\u201d said\nConstable Laura Nicolle, noting it was too early to say if the incidents are\nrelated. \u201cThe suspects obtained a quantity of currency and fled in a vehicle.\nNo one was physically injured.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week\u2019s incidents are the latest in a rash of bank\nrobberies reported by York Regional Police this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, January 5, around 4 p.m. the YRP responded to\nreports of an armed bank robbery in Richmond Hill and an attempted bank robbery\nthe following afternoon in Markham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, January 11, the YRP responded to another\narmed robbery shortly after the noon hour at a Vaughan bank, with another armed\nrobbery reported at a bank in Markham around 4 p.m. that afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
