The Aurora Tigers dropped another two games against\nCollingwood and Georgetown before Christmas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you think of a game that is heartbreaking and\nemotionally deflating, the Tigers endured a feeling like that against the\nCollingwood Colts last Friday, dramatically losing in double overtime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a disastrous first period with True Crowe facing a\n10-minute hit to the head misconduct penalty, the Colts got on the board first.\nA brisk pass from Patrick Brown across the slot was finished by Payton Schaly.\nClosing in on intermission with three minutes to go, defenceman Ayden Dooley\u2019s\nslap pass was tipped in by Tyler Ignazzitto sitting on the doorstep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think their size and their strength dominated us. Most\nteams are older and most teams are bigger and most teams are more experienced,\u201d\nsaid Jim Wells Jr in the first intermission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI basically said, \u2018Guys, guess what? It\u2019s going to be like\nthis every game. Find a way. We\u2019ll learn to battle through it and it\u2019s going to\nmake you a better player.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers began to find a way, outshooting the Colts 15-9\nforcing Andrew Rose to make some spectacular saves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, it was fortune that was not on the Tigers\u2019 side. Noah\nMinns found Nicholas Cirone available to be the next candidate on the score\nsheet and the forward did just that. The Colts went up by three heading into\nthe third, but, that didn\u2019t mean the Tigers were ready to roll over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, Tigers forward Sebastian Tamburro found the back of\nthe net 34 seconds into the period. Noah Minns of the Colts, successfully\nconverted the power play opportunity to make it 4-1, yet the resilience and\nmental strength from the Tigers did not let this setback affect their play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the powerplay the Tigers came back thanks to Tamburro\u2019s\nsecond on the night and Luc Reeve scored to make it 4-3, 59 seconds later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnce we get one, the floodgates will open and I told them\nif we get two, they will call a timeout,\u201d said Wells, elaborating on his speech\nin the second intermission to his team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Reeve\u2019s goal, sure enough, Colts coaches Nick Ricca\nand Darcy Roy called a timeout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deeper into the game with 1:20 left and Christian Filippetti\non the bench, defenceman Jonathan Balah equalized sending the game to overtime.\nThe comeback was almost complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first four-on-four overtime solved nothing, so, the\nsecond three-on-three overtime was left to judge if a winner will exit the\narena with a win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sure enough, there was a winner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Payton Schaly skated past the defence with speed and\nshovelled the puck past Filippetti to seal the victory. How a victory could be\nso deflating. The Tigers dominated two periods erasing a deficit, and one\nmishap was all it took. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this exceptional performance was moving it was still\nnot the best performance of the year for Wells. The victories against Markham\nand Brantford are above this one. You might say, this game is in third place as\nthe top three performances this year so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next night in their back to back set, the Tigers\ntravelled to Georgetown to face the Raiders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Filippetti stood on his head in this one stopping\n50 of 53 shots in the 3-1 loss on the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora took the lead in the first period thanks to Thomas\nKloepfer. The score line did not move on the board for the Tigers. It was all\nRaiders after that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaden Condotta opened the scoring for the Raiders in the\nsecond period and in the third, Graeme McCrory and Kurt Watson put this one to\nbed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Raiders outshot the Tigers 53-30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aurora Tigers club, despite losses, continues to\nimprove. When you believe they are down and out, the boys on that bench and the\nhead coach at the helm insist on teaching you a thing or two about finding ways\nto keep pushing and honing your craft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s like the Raptors, when the year doesn\u2019t have many\nexpectations and foregone, doubtful conclusions, the team continues to prove\ncritics wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where will the Aurora Tigers be a year from now? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let the bets begin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
