There\u2019s a cold front making its way into\nPhiladelphia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan Frost has finally arrived in the\nNHL, making his much-anticipated debut for the Philadelphia Flyers last\nThursday after a call up from the AHL-affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a long road to the show for\nthe Aurora native, who turned 20 in May, shortly before his third development\ncamp was underway. He was drafted 27th overall by the Flyers in the 2017 NHL\nEntry Draft, picked in the shadows of Nolan Patrick, the teenager picked second\noverall in the same draft, and who is already in his third season with the NHL\nclub since the draft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet Frost\u2019s impact with the big club was\nevident just a period and a half into his NHL debut, sliding in a backhander\npast Florida Panthers goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky for the career highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was kind of low in the \u2018D\u2019 zone, to\nbe honest, and (teammate Travis Konecny) made a really nice pass and I saw a\nbit of room,\u201d Frost told reporters following his NHL debut. \u201cAt first\nI was looking (to) pass but then I saw I had a lane to the net. I think the\ngoalie put his stick out so I just tried to go short side with it and luckily\nit went in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a monkey off the back of the\ntalented centreman, who grew up playing in the Aurora Minor Hockey program\nbefore turning heads in the OHL for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He was in\nthe midst of his first professional season with the Phantoms when he received\nthe call up, having posted twelve points in sixteen pro games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe played a good game. There was\ndefinitely a lot of good plays with the puck that he made for us,\u201d\nadded Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault. \u201cA young player getting his first\nkick at the NHL, he\u2019s obviously going to remember this game, and he scored a\ngoal for us too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The call from the front office came\nduring what any other 20-year old would be doing on their day off: playing\nvideo games with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c(Phantoms Head Coach) Scott Gordon\u2019s\nname showed up on my phone, and I wasn\u2019t sure what it was for at first. When he\ntold me, it was an amazing feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there was still any doubt as to\nFrost\u2019s abilities to play with the big boys, he all but erased them in his\nsecond game with the Flyers, facing the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. A quick\ndrop pass off a faceoff from All-Star Claude Giroux set up Frost for a one-time\nfrom the slot, for his second goal in his second NHL appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per NHL public relations, Frost is\nthe sixth player in franchise history to score a goal in each of his first two\ncareer games, while the last Flyer to do it was David Laliberte\nin 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet the humble Frost said he still has a\nlot to learn from his new peers, including the veteran Giroux, who has already\ntaken the prot\u00e9g\u00e9 under his wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s teaching me how to manage the puck, and just basically how to play the pro game. So, I think every game is kind of an opportunity to try to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
