The final buzzer was music to the ears of the Minor Bantam York-Simcoe\nExpress in the championship game of the CCM Nashville World Invite tournament\nearlier this month, signaling a gold medal victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music City played host to the Express squad and fifteen other teams\nfrom across North America in the 2006 division, in a tournament which has risen\nto the premier ranks of the AAA programs over its three years running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An undefeated record throughout the tournament\u2019s six games was not an\nunusual feat for the powerhouse Express, who entered the tournament having won\nfour of their first five games to open the regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening matchup on October 4 had the Express facing off against the\nBay State Breakers, hailing from Kingston, Massachusetts. York-Simcoe managed a\n5 \u2013 1 win, before earning a 2 \u2013 2 tie with another Massachusetts-based club\nlater that day, in the Valley Jr. Warriors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Express continued to have the number of the entire state of\nMassachusetts into Saturday\u2019s action, besting the Islanders HC 3 \u2013 1, before\ntopping the hometown Nashville Jr. Predators 3 \u2013 2 to stay undefeated in the\nround robin heading into Sunday\u2019s playoff rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a battle of the undefeated, the Express met with the Colorado\nThunderbirds on Sunday morning, riding a 2 \u2013 1 win into the afternoon\u2019s gold\nmedal match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was there that they met their first fellow Canadian club, the Sun\nCounty Panthers of Essex, toppling their fellow Canucks in a 3 \u2013 0 shutout to\ntake home the gold medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YSE\u2019s Rylan Taid was named the tournament\u2019s most valuable player for the age group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
