One can\u2019t help but wonder, is it too\nlate for the Aurora Tigers to turn their season around?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t fault them for trying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Junior A club has now won three of\ntheir last four games on the Ontario Junior Hockey League schedule, after\nopening the season with a whopping eleven straight losses. Last weekend\nfeatured a pair of points each taken from the division rival Markham Royals and\nthe Milton Menace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Markham Centennial Centre was the venue\non Friday evening for the Tigers\u2019 first road win of the season, riding a\nproductive final half of the third period on their way to a 5 \u2013 4 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a handful of former members from\nanother cat\u2019s den, the Elliott Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior\nHockey League, that led the way for the Tigers: down 4 \u2013 3 with just under four\nminutes left in regulation, Eric Conley sent home the tying goal, before fellow\nformer Wildcat Jalen Balbosa capitalized on the game winner just over thirty\nseconds later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minns brothers Noah and Caleb,\npicked up from the Wildcats in the offseason, added a pair of assists in\nsecuring the Tigers\u2019 second win of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noah took the lead on the team\u2019s season\nscoresheet with thirteen points, while defenseman Thomas Kloepfer had a night\nto remember in picking up his first career OJHL goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet it was Jalen Balbosa who again\nplayed the hero in Sunday\u2019s matchup with the Menace, a thirteen-goal total\neffort that took a pair of overtimes to decide. Starting goaltender Christian\nFilippetti struggled to keep up with the onslaught of Menace shots on his net,\npulled in the middle of the second period with his team down 6 \u2013 5 after four\nstraight Milton goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noah Minns was able to capitalize to tie\nit at sixes heading into the break, before relieving keeper Andrew Barwinski\nand his counterpart Forbes Anderson put on a goaltending clinic in shutting\ndown the offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balbosa gave the Tigers the extra point\njust nineteen seconds into the second overtime, finally letting the keepers\nrest after Aurora faced a whopping 51 shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on what appears to be the right\ntrack, the hill to climb remains steep: Aurora is still in the basement of the\nOJHL standings, although share the honour with the Lindsay Muskies, each with\neight total points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora\u2019s record of 3-10-0-2 has the\nsquad ten points back of the Collingwood Colts for the division lead, who are\nenjoying quite a successful inaugural season. The Tigers will pay a visit to\nCollingwood for the ultimate test this Friday in their third meeting of the\nseason, after the Tigers picked up their first win over the Colts earlier this\nmonth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s hosting of the Burlington\nCougars will feature the team\u2019s annual \u201cPink in the Rink\u201d fundraiser in support\nof Southlake Regional Health Centre. The Tigers will be donned in pink jerseys\nfor the contest, which will be auctioned off post-game to raise funds for\ncancer treatment and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
