There are a dozen ways to see the on-green action at this\nmonth\u2019s CP Women\u2019s Open at the Magna Golf Club \u2013 and a $20 donation to a good\ncause can drive you towards a great fan experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work is well underway at the Magna Golf Club ahead of the\nAugust 25 event. The grandstands are going up, the course is being marked, and\nthe fine details are being put in place for ticketholders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With general admission tickets ranging from $20 – $60 for\nsingle day passes, and $120 to gain access to the grounds for the entire week,\ntournament manager Ryan Paul says your best bet is to consider an additional\n$20 charitable donation to be a part of the CP Fan Zone experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a big thing for Golf Canada and CP bringing the\nLPGA to the public and giving residents of York Region a chance to see these\nplayers up close and personal,\u201d says Mr. Paul. \u201cAn important step with Magna is\nto build the infrastructure that allows for that to happen, accommodate the\ncrowds we\u2019re expecting, and give them the opportunity to watch these players up\nclose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a lot of spots to watch. The 18th<\/sup>\nGreen is always a favourite, the final hole where the champion is crowned, so\nwe\u2019ll have a public bleacher right on the green side that can accommodate 300\npeople. What\u2019s really special about our event is at the 15th<\/sup> and 17th<\/sup>\nhole, we\u2019ll have the CP Fan Zone, an upgraded area for spectators. You get\ncovered seating, you get your bleachers, and we give them upgraded bathrooms,\nwhich is always a plus \u2013 then there are concessions with heart-healthy options.\nTo get into those structures, it is a $20 donation to Sick Kids and that\ndonation gets you in there all week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While this is a good option to brave the elements and\ncontribute to a good cause at the same time, Mr. Paul says one of the beauties\nof the Magna Golf Course is that there really isn\u2019t a bad place to watch the\ngame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some spectators, he says, like to get a head-start on the\ngame play, setting themselves up on the driving range to watch professional\ngolfers, including defending champion Brooke Henderson, warm up, but others\nlike to get in their steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you want to follow a group and walk the 18 holes, you\nhave great vistas and sight lines at each hole as you go along,\u201d says Mr. Paul.\n\u201cIf you want to follow Brooke Henderson or any other Canadians, or if you want\nto sit at a green and watch the players come in, Seventeen is a really popular\none, just being a Par 3 over the water. Fifteen will be a reachable Par 4 on\nsome days, so it is exciting to watch the players go in for the green in one.\nEvery hole here is great and the back Nine is just so compact you can bounce\nfrom hole to hole quite easily. It really adds to the experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his 14 years organizing these tournaments, Mr. Paul\nestimates he has probably managed to see \u201cabout half a dozen shots\u201d in that\ntime, but that doesn\u2019t lessen his excitement and enthusiasm. For those who have\npicked up tickets so far, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many\nlooking forward to seeing Henderson defend her crown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat has elevated the excitement just a little bit\nmore,\u201d he says with a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe CP Fan Zones are the way to go with their covered\nstructures. That will give you a chance to get out of the elements. You can\nstill come and go as you please. If you\u2019re really wanting to watch that final\nputt and the final group has come in and Eighteen is your thing, I would say\ncome here early and bring a chair that you can park down. That still allows you\nto get up and walk.
