Great Big Sea\u2019s Alan Doyle will return to the Magna\nHoedown stage, headlining the first night of York Region\u2019s biggest two-day\nparty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Doyle\u2019s return to Hoedown, where he first performed\nin 2016, was announced Thursday by Magna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlan Doyle is no stranger to the Magna Hoedown stage,\nand is back by popular demand after performing three years ago,\u201d say\norganizers. \u201cDoyle is a celebrated Canadian folk-rock musician who says he is\n\u2018the luckiest guy I have ever even heard of. This was all I ever wanted, a life\nin the music business, singing concerts.\u2019 Initially made famous with the band\nGreat Big Sea, Doyle has gone on to have a successful career as a solo artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2017, Doyle was named a Member of the Order of Canada\n\u2018for his contributions to the musical traditions of his home province and for\nhis commitment to numerous local charitable initiatives.\u2019 Doyle\u2019s spirit of\ngiving and generosity, along with his incredible musical talents, are a perfect\nmatch with what the Magna Hoedown is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan Doyle will take over the Hoedown stage on the\nevening of Friday, September 13, following the final round of the Magna Hoedown\nShowdown competition, showcasing up and coming Ontario talent. Hoedown\u2019s Friday\nnight has a new twist this year with a Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets for the events, September 13 and 14, are on sale\nnow and available online at www.hoedown.ca<\/a>.\nRaffle tickets are also on sale from the 20 York Region and South Simcoe\ncharities and non-profits that will share this year\u2019s Hoedown proceeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These partner organizations include Abuse Hurts (The\nCanadian Centre for Abuse Awareness), Aurora FC, the Aurora Tigers, Autism Ontario\nYork Region & Kerry\u2019s Place Autism Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters of\nYork with Epilepsy York Region, Community Living Central York, Deaf Blind\nOntario Services, Easter Seals Ontario, Hospice Georgina & the Georgina\nArts Centre and Gallery, the Lake Simcoe Soccer Club, Learning Disabilities\nAssociation of York Region, the Literacy Council of York-Simcoe & Learning\nCentre for Georgina, Marquee Theatrical Productions, Newmarket Redmen, Pulsars\nGymnastics Club, St. John Ambulance, the Food Bank of York Region, Victim\nServices of York Region, the Women\u2019s Centre of York Region, and York Pride\nFestival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
