Last weekend was #YorkPride and Aurora was\n#AuroraProud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora is always proud and has many\nreasons to be proud. When it comes to LGBTQ2 and celebrations, we should be\nproud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just one thing, if we want to be proud\nlet\u2019s be accurate. The official word is PRIDE. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I search #AuroraProud on social\nmedia, I see posts of everything from sporting events, local farmers markets,\nlocal political statements, pita sandwiches, to active participation\nchallenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see posts from our friends in Aurora,\nColorado as well as our hometown. That makes us all proud and we should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I search #AuroraPride, I see many\nposts from Aurora, Colorado celebrating PRIDE but not so many from Aurora,\nON.  This makes me not so proud.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next year, Town of Aurora, let\u2019s get it\nright, raise the PRIDE flag, celebrate PRIDE, and use #AuroraPride.  For decades LGBTQ2 people have fought and\ncontinue to fight for their rights in this country and around the world. For\ndecades we have celebrated PRIDE with rainbow flags, parades, demonstrations,\nquilts, and the word PRIDE, and of this, I am fundamentally proud. Next year,\nTown of Aurora, let\u2019s use #AuroraPride and leave the #AuroraProud for\neverything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to my rights and the\ncelebration of them, words matter as much as deeds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
