Newmarket-Aurora<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer is just\naround the corner, and I would like to congratulate all of the recent graduates\non their academic success and wish all children in our community a fun summer.\nIt is always a great time to play outside. I know my sons look forward to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year marked\nthe 75th<\/sup> Anniversary of D-Day. On D-Day, June 6th<\/sup>,1944, Canadians\nfought for democracy and freedom. Some 14,000 Canadian soldiers came ashore at\nJuno Beach that day. At ceremonies across Canada, and in Normandy, France,\nCanadians stopped to remember and honour the 359 Canadian soldiers killed and\nthe more than 700 that were wounded in Normandy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2019 Aurora\nChamber of Commerce Street Festival was held on Sunday, June 2. It was great\nsee the streets filled with local residents, and many visitors from near and\nfar attended this year\u2019s event. Thanks to ACC organizing team, volunteers, and\nall the vendors who worked hard to make it a great success. It is always great\nto see so many people on Yonge Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, June\n9, the 71st<\/sup> Annual Decoration Day ceremony was held at the Newmarket Cemetery.\nResidents joined together to commemorate and honour all those who have paid the\nultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We will remember them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations\nto the Toronto Raptors! What an incredible playoff season, as Canadians all\nacross the country cheered on the Raptors throughout the NBA playoffs. We can\nall be proud of the Raptors winning their first NBA Championship! #WeTheNorth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happy Pride\nMonth! I was proud to see our community out in record numbers to the York Pride\nParade held last weekend on Main Street, Newmarket. It was a wonderful\ncelebration. Congratulations to the organizers and volunteer team for your hard\nwork and efforts to make this year\u2019s event an outstanding success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, my\nfamily and I look forward to celebrating Canada Day in Newmarket-Aurora.
