A takedown in the box, and a stroke of\nluck, were enough to spark a second half comeback for York9 FC in their 2 \u2013 2\ndraw with the west coast\u2019s Pacific FC on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third week of the inaugural Canadian\nPremier League season saw the York squad go down 2 \u2013 0 early, allowing a pair\nof first half goals before heading to the locker room for a heated pep talk\nfrom the York brass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI thought the first half, we didn\u2019t\nshow up to the races,\u201d said York head coach Jimmy Brennan. \u201cWe knew we had a\nlot more in our locker room. At half time we had a few words to the guys, and\nfor the second half they came out and that was more like us. That\u2019s who we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou kind of just think, let\u2019s get this\n45 minutes out of the way, so we can get in at half time, have a look at it,\nand change some things up\u2026get some fresh legs in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The momentum began to swing the way of\nthe road side early in the second half, when York striker Simon Adjei was taken\ndown in the first ten minutes, allowing Ridrigo Gattas a penalty kick on which\nhe converted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was shortly after, in the 62nd\nminute, when Pacific FC came undone in deflecting a pass right into their own\ngoal for the equalizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted to get forward, we were\nclinical in the box,\u201d said Brennan. \u201cWe should have come away with three points\ntoday, we should have won in the end. But, overall, it was a good game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjei, a former member of the League1\nOntario\u2019s Aurora FC, sent a ball just outside the woodwork in the closing\nminutes to secure a point for each side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a battle that saw both sides\nsearching for their first ever CPL victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re a good side, they have a lot of\ngood, young players,\u201d Brennan said of his team\u2019s opponent. \u201cThey caused a lot\nof problems as well, especially in the first half. A draw is what it is, but\nwe\u2019re a little disappointed we didn\u2019t come away with three points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holding onto a record of 0-2-1 through\nthe first three weeks of the season, York9 FC is homeward bound at long last. A\nmuch-anticipated home opener is scheduled for this Saturday at York Lions\nStadium, where the York squad will host Hamilton\u2019s Forge FC, who they played to\na draw in the opening week of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe thing with us now, we\u2019re looking\nahead to our home opener,\u201d said Brennan. \u201cGetting a couple of home games under\nour belt. We\u2019ve been on the road now for the last number of weeks, playing away\ngames, so our guys are looking forward to getting home. \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n
