The latest former\nTiger to lace up for the Purple Eagles will be leading his flock of NHL\nhopefuls onto the ice next season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noah Delmas was named\nthe captain of the Niagara Purple Eagles in a news conference held by the NCAA\nDivision I team last week, who compete in the prestigious Atlantic Hockey\nconference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are confident in\nNoah because has set the expectations of our team high as we continue to grow\nmen through hockey,\u201d said Purple Eagles head coach Jason Lammers in a press\nrelease. \u201cNoah embodies our mission as a person, student and player. His own\npersonal growth has been impressive and now he has the honor to lead others by\nputting \u2018we\u2019 ahead of \u2018me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Schomberg native\nspent his entire junior hockey career with the Junior A\nAurora Tigers, blooming in his second season in 2014-15 to become one of the\ntop offensive defenseman in the OJHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After posting 42\npoints in 51 games with the Tigers that year, the blueliner earned a\nscholarship from the Niagara Univesity Purple Eagles, opting to stick close to\nhome to play Division I hockey in Lewiston, New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlaying Division 1\nhockey has always been a goal of mine,\u201d Delmas told The Auroran. \u201cNiagara is\nclose to home and provides a great education along with\na great hockey program. When Niagara showed interest, I\nknew that was where I wanted to play.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delmas spent his\nminor hockey years with the York-Simcoe Express AAA system, nine in total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His fifteen assists\nin 35 games as a freshman led all Purple Eagles skaters, earning him the role\nof assistant captain last season. He once again led all Purple Eagles in assists\nas a junior this season, and finished fourth among all Division I blueliners in\nboth goals with fifteen and points with forty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delmas said he was\n\u201cdeeply honoured\u201d to take over the captaincy, and to lead \u201csuch amazing\nplayers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m committed to doing\nwhat I can on and off the ice in order to make sure we have a successful year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Purple Eagles program has shown an affinity\ntowards Aurora in recent years, including putting Delmas on the ice with former\nTigers captain Robert Angiolella. 2014-15 Tigers leading scorer John Curran\nposted twenty points with the Eagles as a forward this season, while former\nTigers Drake Board and Matthew Bernard had commitments for the 2017-18 season,\nthough both fell through.<\/p>\n\r\n\"Facebook\"<\/a>\"twitter\"<\/a>\"mail\"<\/a>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
